I have been using Poshmark to sell clothes for a few years. It’s an easy app with millions of followers looking to shop. The process is simple and user-friendly, so I recommend Poshmark for selling clothes that are too valuable to donate.
The first step is downloading the app and creating an account.
Take pictures of the items you are selling. Be sure to have good lighting and hang the items or lay them flat. Sharing photos of the label and sizing, plus any product issues, is advised.
Be sure to write a detailed and accurate description of the item and complete all the information boxes, including brand, size, condition and other details such as colour, flaws, defects, etc. Being honest and upfront helps to avoid disputes with buyers.
Next, it’s time to set the price you want for the item. I suggest researching prices on the app to be sure you’re realistic. Don’t forget that Postmark takes a 20% commission on sales over $15. That may seem like a steep commission, but it’s worth it because Posmark handles the transaction and payment.
Once your listing is complete, it’s time to share. Even if you don’t have followers, the app will post the listing to get exposure for you. You will be amazed at how easy it is to get followers and how easily people share your listings to drive sales.
If someone wants to purchase one of your items, you will get a message in the app. Be sure to communicate with the prospective buyer as quickly as possible. They may extend an offer which you can accept, decline or provide a counteroffer.
Sometimes, potential buyers ask for additional pictures, which you can add at any time or send directly to them in the app.
When you make a sale by agreeing on a price with the buyer, you will be sent a shipping label, which you can print and attach to the package.
Try to ship the item as quickly as possible. Pay attention to the shipping size. I only sell items that fit within that size package because I don’t want to go to the post office. If you stay within the regular package measurements, pop the package into any mailbox.
When the buyer receives the package, they can rate their experience with you as a seller. Once receipt from the buyer is confirmed, you will see money show up in your available balance. You can choose to have that money transferred to your bank account or spend it shopping in the app to make purchases for yourself.
Voila, you’ve made an online, second-hand purchase using Postmark.
